On the south side of Stara Planina preferred are the areas of Karlovo, Kazanlak and Kalofer, the so called Rozova Dolina - The Rose valley, the best place in the world for planting of roses.

Even the capital Sofia has its own mountain - Vitosha. Small, but very nice and interesting mountain that surrounds the city on South and gives fresh air and relax to about two million inhabitants of the city.

The Southern mountains Rila, Pirin and Rhodope are homes of the biggest and more important ski resorts in Bulgaria and the Balkans - Borovetz, Bansko and Pamporovo. These resorts are destination for tourists from all over the world, and home of prestigious winter sport forums - ski, snowboard, etc.
